According to a report, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly demanding a spot on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during King Charles’s coronation — and recognition during the festivities from their two young children.
The requests, and the couple’s apparent delay until their wishes are granted, could throw the historic event into “chaos”, royal insiders fear.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who recently received their invitation to the May 6 ceremony – are still undecided whether or not to make the 5,459-mile journey.
If they do go, the exiled royals will be met with a “cold shoulder” by high-ranking members of the royal family, according to one report.
Harry and Meghan are particularly concerned about their children’s roles — Prince Archie, who will turn 4 the day his grandfather is crowned king, and Princess Lilibet, 1, told a source close to the palace OK! Magazine.
It is believed that Archie and Lilibet were not invited to attend the coronation, which reportedly did not go down well with the exiled royals.
“The palace is trying to finalize the negotiations as soon as possible, because they can’t get straight to the point. It can lead to chaos,” an insider told the outlet.
“However, what the Sussexes are insisting on is that they be taken into the palace with the rest of the family later that day,” the insider added.
“It is also Prince Archie’s birthday on the day of the coronation, so they would like to give a wink to that during lunch or drinks. Even if it’s just a mention of a happy birthday.”
The absence of the two youths from the event had, according to the source, “never been a bone of contention”, due to the “restlessness and tantrums” typical of small children.
Harry and Meghan are also reportedly urging to be included on the balcony of Buckingham Palace on the big day — a royal protocol reserved exclusively for working members of the royal family.
“It could very well end in a stalemate and they won’t be there. But the palace is doing everything it can to prevent that from happening.”
Charles will be formally crowned on May 6, a date fans say was chosen specifically to cause some conflict for the Sussexes and Archie’s birthday.
Meanwhile, leaked plans revealed that Prince William’s children are expected to take part in the coronation, The Times reports.
George, 9, Charlotte, 7, and Louis, 5, will join their parents Prince William and Kate Middleton in a carriage behind a Gold State Coach transporting the King and Queen, plans seen by the outlet show.
The coronation drama is the latest sign of discord among the royals since the Sussex family stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020.
The move sparked conflict and bad blood, ultimately leading to their absence from the palace balcony during the belated celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last summer.
The Post has reached out to Sussexe representatives, while Kensington Palace declined to comment.
