Heinz wants to buy a new boat for the man who survived the ketchup when he got lost at sea

(CNN) The sailor who spent weeks lost at sea in January, surviving largely on ketchup, can get a new, state-of-the-art boat to come to him.

And the beautiful gift is said to be due to Ketchup giant Heinz, who is trying to locate Elvis Francois.

The company posted a social media appeal on Feb. 14, hoping to track down the elusive Dominica sailor. According to Heinz’s social media, they have already contacted the government of Dominica, the island nation Francois is from, as well as the Colombian Navy, who rescued him northwest of Colombia’s Puerto BolĂvar.

But so far none of the attempts to find Francois have failed, Heinz says.

So the ketchup seller is now asking “the general public to try and help with the hunt,” according to a statement shared to CNN via email.

“We are also asking for credible leads to contact Elvis so we can help cover a new boat equipped with full navigation technology to prevent another disaster in the future,” the company added.

Heinz also suggested that fans use the hashtag #FindTheKetchupBoatGuy to bolster their search.

Francois, 47, was repairing his boat near the Dutch part of the island of Sint Maarten in December when his boat was pulled into the sea. He told Colombian authorities that he did not have the navigation skills to return to shore and spent 24 days at sea. He survived on a bottle of ketchup, garlic powder and Maggi bouillon cubes, which he mixed with water.

According to Colombian authorities, he was rescued after a plane spotted his sailboat with “help” engraved on its hull.
